Selfish Sin.

Is it not probably true that the selfishness of Christians is the main reason for the slow progress of Christianity? -Charles Spurgeon.

We are selfish, vile, conceited, prideful sinners. The King of King dies for us the most cruel death imaginable, He dies while being spat upon, while being mocked and bullied though He did no wrong. They pulled the hairs from His beard, placed a crown of thorn upon His head, broke His bones, bloodied His body. He was tortured like we will never be tortured. But we continue to grasp at sin begging for more and more and more of what killed our Savior, then we claim that He is an intolerant, hateful Creator because He will not allow us to wallow in sin without punishment.

Tell me, if something killed the person that you love the most, whether it be a significant other, a best friend, a brother, a sister, your parents…would you continue to stand up for what killed them? Would you want to stay in the midst of it? If a murderer came in and killed them in the most cruel of ways, would you not fight for the murderer to be sent away? Would you not fight for justice?

God is at war, folks. He is fighting the thing that has killed so many of His beloved children. That has damned them to an eternity of torture. He is fighting Satan.

Satan and sin go together. If you are fighting for the right to sin, you are fighting on Satan’s side of the warzone.

We scream for salvation. We preach the untainted, unchanged gospel of Jesus Christ. We yell out His name. We put on the armor of God and we fight for Him. We walk out in the world and proudly proclaim that The Lord Jesus Christ is my Savior! And we stand against sin. We do not stand for wrong. We are against wrong.

If you are for God, you must be against sin. Even if it is your pet sin. Even if it means fighting the world, fighting Satan in our own lives. Homosexuality, abortion, idolatry, adultery..these are all sins that people will fight to keep around. We must fight against it. The world will say how hateful we are. They will hate us.

We fight sin because we love the world. Because we know where sin leads.

How selfish is the world, to look at the Savior boldly and say that what He’s done for us isn’t enough, He must allow us to sin as well. He must change His rules because the current ones…they just don’t fit into our schedule or our lives.

God created this whole world for you. He created Heaven, a paradise, for you. He sent His only Son to die, for you. Jesus Christ went through the worst death so that you can have freedom from your sins and live your life fully. He is not a hateful God, but He will not allow His children to sin purposely. Would you? But He is willing to be a friend to us. To wash us white as snow whenever we mess up. He loves us, despite our faults. We just have to come to Him and be willing to give up our sins for His love.

And that, is a good trade.

Romans 6:6

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
